    • Toronto Association for Democracy in China and the Federation for a Democratic China (Canada) invite you to this year’s commemorative activities for the 24th anniversary of the June 4th Beijing Tiananmen Square massacre to be held on Sunday June 2, 2013:

       

      7:00 pm Rally and March from Chinese Consulate, 240 St. George Street to Hart House Circle, University of Toronto

      8:00 pm Candlelight Vigil at Hart House Circle, University of Toronto

       

      The theme this year is to bring attention to the continued suppression of freedom of expression in China and to support an international campaign for the release of Chinese activist, novelist and poet Li Bifeng 李必豐.

       

      Mr. Li has been sentenced to 12 years of imprisonment in November 2012 on alleged corruption charges. Li was previously sentenced to five years of imprisonment for his involvement with the June 4th Tiananmen Square student protests. This year’s candlelight vigil will feature a recitation of Li’s poem (李必豐詩歌朗誦) to support the international campaign.
